Wound Tight playing in Buchanan at Friday’s Block Party & Cruise In

Buchanan welcomes the award-winning Wound Tight as the feature band during this Friday’s Third Friday Block Party in downtown Buchanan from 5:30-8:30 p.m.

Wound Tight is an award winning bluegrass band comprised of musicians from Southwest Virginia led by brothers Chris and Ray “Mike” Martin; Chris Martin on guitar and mandolin as lead and harmony vocals, Mike Martin on dobro and vocals, Jonathan Martin on banjo, Nick Weitzenfeld on guitar, lead and harmony vocals, and Alex Donahue on bass and harmony vocals.

Wound Tight’s energetic bluegrass style has captured the attention of fans and judges alike resulting in first place winnings at both the 20th Annual Maury River Fiddlers Convention and 24th Annual Sedalia Bluegrass Festival. Wound Tight continues to excel in their musical genre, placing in the top 15 at the Galax Old Fiddlers Convention in 2014 and 2016.

The band as a group as well as the individual members have won numerous awards for their musical accomplishments. Wound Tight is known for playing straight up traditional bluegrass music, country classic tunes with a bluegrass twist and their own original material. The band has recently completed a CD entitled “No More Rain.”

Buchanan’s Third Friday Block Party features live music, a beer garden, kids’ activities, extended hours by several downtown businesses and a Community Market.
