Carl “Mac” Wymer, 86, of Buchanan, passed away Friday, December 6, 2024.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Wymer, Sr. and Irene Wymer Proffitt; siblings, Cecil Wymer, Mary Lois Shanks, Vera Smith, Margaret Jane Wymer, Shelby Thrasher, Bessie Kingery, Frances Robinson, and William Wymer, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Dudley Wymer, of an incredible and loving unforgettable 65 years. He was an amazing father who provided wisdom, encouragement and endless support to his son, Carl Wayne Wymer and wife, Mary “Krissi”; daughter, Melissa “Missy” Austin and husband, David. He was an unbelievable Pop Pop leaving everlasting unforgettable memories to his grandchildren, Cody Wymer, Travis Austin and wife, Summer, Kesley Dillon and husband, John, and Wyatt Wymer. He deeply loved and cherished his time with his great-grandchildren, Miley Austin, Liliana, Kanin and Pailyn Wymer; and Oaklyn Dillon.
Mac was born and raised in Buchanan and was a mechanic all his life. He could fix anything ranging from small engines to rebuilding his 39 Buick Special 8. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially loving saltwater fishing off the boat in the Chesapeake Bay with his family. He was truly a remarkable unforgettable man who loved his family with everything he had.
Visitation was held from 1-2 p.m with funeral services at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Tabor officiating.
