The Botetourt Family YMCA in Daleville will host an Early Learning Center Holiday Open House on Monday, Dec. 15, from 5 to 6:30 p.m., inviting families to meet teachers, explore classrooms and learn more about the Y’s play-based early learning program. Guests can make a holiday ornament, enjoy hot chocolate and experience the welcoming environment that supports both children and families year-round.

“Since the Early Learning Center is a part of the Y, our focus is on serving children as well as families,” said Valerie Boone, childcare director at the Early Learning Center. “What makes our program special is that children and families are supported here at every stage. Children grow and learn in the classroom, and parents find community and wellness just steps away.”

The center’s curriculum emphasizes hands-on learning and social development in a nurturing setting. Families can also take advantage of the Riptides Swim School add-on, which offers weekly swim lessons during the school day. Led by certified YMCA instructors, the lessons help children build water safety skills, coordination and confidence.

Boone said. “We can’t wait to welcome families in person at our Holiday Open House and show them what makes our ELC and community so special,” Boone said.

Boone began her career working in childcare during high school. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Children’s Ministry with a preschool emphasis from Johnson University.
