The Three Rivers District golf teams played a round at the Pete Dye River Course at Virginia Tech on Monday and James River finished fourth among the seven teams. The Knights shot a 359, just four strokes behind Giles.
Ryan Steger shot another impressive 78, while sophomore Silas Miller shot a 92. Freshman Lacey Kessler shot a personal best of 94 and sophomore Joey Schroeder rounded out the top four with a 94.
“This young team is amazing me every day,” said River coach Donna Cox.
Floyd County won the round with a team score of 323 while Radford was second at 337. Individual medalist was Tyler Williams of Floyd with a 77 on the par 72 course.
Last week at Ole Mill the Knights were also fourth, 20 strokes behind Giles. Steger had a 78 to lead James River.
The Knights will have a home match at the Botetourt Golf & Swim Club on Thursday of this week, and Monday they go to Floyd.
