Registration is now open for the 33rd Annual Bank of Fincastle Fall 5K and 10K on Saturday, October 19. The race begins at Central Academy Middle School in Fincastle at 9 a.m. and winds through the Town of Fincastle.
Many runners take part in the race due to its challenging and hilly course, which is a great vehicle for training. Others walk, stroll and jog with their friends, just for the fun of it. Each year all Botetourt County elementary and middle schools register teams in the race. Please check with the school to see who will be coordinating the race team at your student’s school, and ask to be a part of it. The pre-registration includes a custom long-sleeve shirt and finisher ribbon, fruit and Gatorade after the race. Chic-fil-A will be on hand with breakfast items available for purchase, and K-92 will provide music. Medals and trophies will be presented to the top individual and school team finishers. Top finishers in each age group will also receive medals.
The proceeds from the race provide scholarships to students from Lord Botetourt and James River High Schools each year.
