Six James River High School seniors committed to participate as student-athletes when they go to college in the fall. The students were recognized during a ceremony with family and teammates at the school last Wednesday afternoon. From left, front, are Linsey Bailey who will play volleyball at Roanoke College; Jesse Carter who will wrestle at Ferrum College; Lauren Mayhew who will play softball at Mary Baldwin University; Noel Preece who will run cross country and track at Longwood University; William Fowler who will run cross country and track at Lynchburg College, and Brooke Ford who will play soccer at Randolph College. Standing behind them are Principal Jamie Talbott, Coach Steve Austin, Coach E.D. Schecheterly, Athletic Director Tim Jennings and Coach Bill Smith.
