The four National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) regional champions open their college softball world series today (Wednesday) at Botetourt Sports Complex.

Midwest Region Champion Cedarville University (Cedarville, Ohio) was awarded  top seed in the round-robin pool play tournament that concludes with a championship game Thursday afternoon.

Cedarville takes on fourth seeded Bluefield College, the Mideast Region Champion, at 2 p.m. At the same time, North Central Region representative Judson University from Elgin Il. plays Central Region Champion Oklahoma Baptist University from Shawnee, OK.

Wednesday pool play continues with all four teams switching to play at 4 p.m. Wednesday, then on Thursday at 11 a.m., they switch again for the final round of pool play.

The two top teams from pool play will play in the championship game at 2 p.m. Thursday.

Tickets are $6 for adults and $5 for youth 5-12 years old. Children under 5 are free.

As in past years, the NCCAA tournament is blending the national competition with outreach, ministry and discipleship programs.

The players spent Tuesday working with local non-profits and churches as part of that outreach. They also met together Tuesday evening for a banquet at Fincastle Baptist Church.
