5 bluegrass bands battling in Buchanan Friday night

BOTETOURT – On Friday, April 23, Buchanan Rotary Club is holding its first battle of the bands when it hosts “Best Bluegrass in Buchanan.”

This inaugural event will kick-off Buchanan’s Civil War Weekend.

banjoFive area bands will compete against each other, and audience participation will help determine the winner. Smith Mountain Grass, Corner Grocery Gang, Plank Road Express, The Virginia-Carolina Band and Against The Grain will play their best repertoires to take home the first annual award.

The music begins at 7 p.m. at the Buchanan Theatre on Main Street. You can purchase advance tickets at the website www.buchananrotary.org or Friday night at the door. Seating is limited, so advance ticket purchases are recommended. The cost is $15 for adults, $10 for students and $5 for children.
