TROUTVILLE – Work to relocate a phone line will briefly impact traffic tonight (Wednesday, June 3) at Interstate 81’s Exit 150.

Two 5-minute closures are scheduled to string a phone line across traffic lanes at two separate locations.  Both closures are planned sometime between 10 and 11 p.m. Flaggers will be controlling traffic during the short closures.

The first closure will impact northbound and southbound US 11 just north of the intersection of US 11, US 220 and Alt. 220. All lanes of northbound and southbound US 11 and turn lanes to and from US 11 approaching the intersection will be closed for about 5 minutes.

The second closure will impact the Exit 150B ramp leading from northbound I-81 onto US 11.  Motorists can expect traffic to be stopped briefly on the ramp.

The phone line relocation is being performed by a utility company in advance of an upcoming construction project to improve traffic flow around Exit 150.

Message boards will be in place to alert drivers to the short-term closures.
