Eagle Rock Clothes Closet open Friday

The Eagle Rock United Methodist Charge Clothes Closet will be open from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. on Friday, September 16, during Senior Focus Day.

 

New hours for Cloverdale Thrift Shop

The Cloverdale Church of the Brethren Thrift Shop has a large selection of fall and winter clothes for the entire family. New winter hours are 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. Donations are welcomed.

 

Springwood Food Pantry open on September 17

The Springwood Baptist Food Pantry will be open on Saturday, September 17 from 9-10:30 a.m. The pantry is located at 88 Copps Hill Road, Buchanan. This pantry is a drive through pantry, so clients may remain in their cars and volunteers will load the food for them.

Clients are asked to remain in their cars and food orders will be delivered to them. Additionally, clients are asked to wear masks when volunteers approach the vehicle.

The pantry is open each month on the third Saturday from 9-10:30 a.m. It is a partner with Feeding America Southwest Virginia and anyone in need of food is invited.

 

Springwood Baptist Homecoming Sunday

Springwood Baptist Church invites you to the 190th Homecoming Anniversary on Sunday, September 18.

Homecoming worship service will be from 10:30 a.m. until noon, led by Pastor Mike Anderson, with special music during worship by Carrington Kay and a special appearance by Lilac the Clown. There will be a potluck lunch, so bring a dish or two to share. After lunch, Carrington Kay will bring more special music in the church sanctuary. There will be no Sunday School that morning.

 

Upcoming youth activities at Pleasant Hill Baptist

Pleasant Hill Baptist Youth will be hosting a Youth Hike to Hay Rock on Sunday, September 25 following the worship service. Lunch will be at Bellacino’s and the youth will return to PHBC at 5 p.m. To sign up, call the church line at 540-992-5556 or email to phbcweb@gmail.com.

Pleasant Hill Baptist Youth will be heading to Scaremare in Lynchburg on October 14. The bus will leave PHBC at 6 p.m. and stop to eat along the way. To sign up, call the church line at 540-992-5556 or email to phbcweb@gmail.com.

 

Barbeque dinner at Springwood Baptist

Springwood Baptist Church will be selling pork barbeque dinners, made by Aaron’s Smokehouse, 4-6 p.m. Saturday, October 1, at the church. The dinner is $8 for two pork barbeque sandwiches, cole slaw, baked beans and a canned drink. Desserts are extra. To pre-order, contact Stacey Clark on voicemail at 540-520-2015 with your first and last name and how many dinners you would like. A drive-through will be set up to pick up the meals at different stations at the church.  Last day to pre-order will be Wednesday, September 28 by 7 p.m. Be sure to pre-order in advance.

 

Mount Olivet Homecoming October 2

Homecoming at Mount Olivet United Methodist Church, 26310 Lee Highway, Buchanan, is Sunday, October 2, at 10 a.m.  Come and enjoy gospel singing by Smokey Wilson, luncheon and good fellowship.

 

Mt. Union Cemetery donations needed

Mt. Union Cemetery could use donations for upkeep. To give, send a check made out to Mt. Union Cemetery to W.C. Potter, 2813 Catawba Rd., Troutville,  24175.
