Sirens and Salutes, a local non-profit organization committed to honoring and memorializing first responders and veterans, will hold its fifth annual 9-11 Memorial Walk at Buchanan Town Park this Saturday. Opening remarks will commence at 8 a.m. and will be followed by the walk from 8:46-10:28 a.m. All Botetourt community members are invited to join Sirens and Salutes in honoring the memories of the police officers and first responders who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

Sirens and Salutes recently delivered 23 gift bags to the resident veterans and first responders at the Carrington Place in Daleville. Included in the gift bags were chips, cookies, crackers, sodas, bodywash, lotion, deodorant, and quilted “thank you” hearts made by Brenda Beckner of Buchanan. Sirens and Salutes drops off care packages for them every three to four months to thank them for their service. To find out more about this or to donate to their charity, visit www.sirensandsalutes.org.
