Dirk Padgett has announced that he is candidate for the nomination for the Amsterdam District seat on the Board of Supervisors in the June Republican Primary.
A news release from the candidate said:
“I officially announce today that I am a Republican candidate for Botetourt County Board of Supervisors, Amsterdam District, which includes the voting precincts of Greenfield and Lord Botetourt (Troutville, Daleville, Haymakertown and part of Cloverdale).
“As a successful attorney/prosecutor, and Iraqi war veteran, I have led the fight for the rights of citizens throughout the Commonwealth and overseas in the Middle East. Defending our nation after the 9/11 attacks, I was mobilized twice to active duty, where I was responsible for engaging in tough negotiations with Iraqi warlords, militia leaders, and sometimes corrupt government officials. Subsequently, during my tour in the Pentagon, I navigated the complex U.S. government bureaucracy, building productive working interactive relationships between the Departments of State, Defense, DHS, Justice, and the CIA. After military service I founded a successful private law practice, spending hours almost every day in court fighting for people in need.
“I am well prepared to tackle the challenges facing this county, such as taxes; prioritizing spending on our law enforcement and first responders; improving our schools and building a new LBHS; uncontrolled growth and unnecessary expenditures. I will fight for Botetourt County citizens and promote conservative values and the will of the people of this district and county.
“Although I have received enormous support from citizens who are already aware of my candidacy, I will continue to need help. Please consider giving your support and helping in my fight for this county!”
