Amy S. White announced on Monday that she is seeking the Republican nomination as the Botetourt County Board of Supervisors member for the Buchanan District.

White is a long-time resident of Botetourt County, raised on the Stinnett family farm near Arcadia, where she still helps manage a growing multi-generational livestock operation.  She is serving in her fifth year on the Board of Supervisors and was recently elected board chair for 2025.

During her time on the board, the county has attracted new industrial development and facilitated expansion of existing manufacturers, leading to the creation of over 500 jobs and over $80 million in capital investment. White has consistently supported agriculture, public safety, and schools throughout her tenure on the board.

White has also worked to maintain a collaborative relationship with the Buchanan Town Council and administration to ensure that the Town of Buchanan is involved when opportunities arise. Her commitment to the community is evidenced by her involvement in numerous civic projects and her willingness to meet one-on-one with any constituent.

White is a graduate of James River High School and has a Bachelor of Science degree from James Madison University as well as a Master of Science in Microbiology & Immunology from VCU. She is currently the Dean of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) and Workforce Solutions at Virginia Western Community College, where she has taught for nearly 20 years.

White said, “I look forward to continuing to meet with and talk to Buchanan District voters about their issues and concerns, and to share with them why I wish to serve as their representative for four more years. It is an exciting time for Botetourt County, with lots of opportunities and challenges. I encourage Buchanan District residents to contact me at amywhite5151@gmail.com.”

The Republican Primary to select the party’s candidate for the November General Election will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. Buchanan District polling places include Buchanan Elementary School and Mill Creek Baptist Church. Early voting begins on Friday, May 2, , and takes place at the Voter Registrar’s Office in Fincastle through 5 p.m. Saturday, June 14.
