The James River soccer teams were scheduled to play Three Rivers District games with Radford last Thursday but both the boys’ and girls’ games were postponed.
The girls didn’t play due to a shooting in downtown Radford that afternoon.
“We were almost to the game at Radford when we go the call that there was a school lockdown due to a shooting in town,” said River coach Bill Smith. “I hope we have better luck with our two matches this week.”
The girls are scheduled to play at Patrick County on Tuesday and at home against Glenvar on Thursday. The boys are home to Patrick Tuesday and at Glenvar Thursday. Their home game with Radford was also postponed last week, but not for the same reason.
“We had seniors on a school trip and kids out sick so we didn’t have enough players,” said boys coach Jared Whiting.
