The Lord Botetourt girls and boys and James River girls will be on the courts this week for tennis matches.

The LB girls were scheduled to play Northside at Hollins University on Tuesday, Salem at Hollins on Thursday and at Franklin County Friday. LB defeated William Byrd last week, 8-1, with Reagan Meade winning at first singles, 8-1, and Kennedy Dorsey winning at third singles, 8-4.

“The wind was brutal and made playing tennis quite difficult,” said coach Sam Belcher.  “Despite the conditions our girls showed up to play and got the job done.”

The boys beat Byrd, 5-4, then shut out Fleming, 9-0, on Thursday. Against Byrd Chase Dozier and Tyler McCarren sealed the win at second doubles with an 8-6 win.

The boys were at Northside on Tuesday and they’ll be at Salem Thursday before hosting Franklin County at Hollins University on Friday.

The first year James River girls have a Three Rivers District match on Thursday when they take on Glenvar in Roanoke County.
