Remembering Jerry Dupree

I read in your edition of Nov. 12 of the death of Jerry Dupree. I send my condolences to the family. It’s rough and raw to lose a loved one, under whatever circumstances.

Jerry and I were in and worked together in the Buchanan Rescue Squad. The squad is now no more.
Jerry was a good family man, served his community and his students. What more could be asked?

Snyder thanks Amsterdam District voters

I would like to sincerely thank the residents of the Amsterdam District for placing your trust in me to serve as your representative on the Botetourt County Board of Supervisors. I am truly honored and humbled by your support.

Throughout the campaign, I had the privilege of meeting many of you— listening to your ideas, concerns, and hopes for the future of our community. Those conversations reaffirmed what makes Amsterdam and all of Botetourt so special: our shared values, respect for one another, and dedication to making this a great place to live and work.

As I begin this new role, my goal is simple— to listen carefully, weigh every decision thoughtfully, and always act in the best interest of our district and Botetourt County as a whole. We can maintain the rural integrity that defines us while supporting the kind of responsible growth that keeps our community thriving for generations to come.

My focus will also be on unity and collaboration. I believe that when we work together— across neighborhoods, generations, and points of view— we can achieve the best outcomes for our district and our county. I welcome ideas, feedback, and participation from everyone; the best solutions come when many voices are heard and respected.

To ensure those voices continue to be part of the conversation, there will be ongoing opportunities to stay engaged through regularly held meetings and continued face-to-face conversations. Your input will always matter, and I intend to make it as easy as possible for you to share it.

Thank you again for your confidence, your engagement, and your belief in the strength of our community. I look forward to serving you and working together to keep Botetourt strong, vibrant, and united.

Tim Snyder
Amsterdam District Supervisor-Elect
