Preservation Botetourt, Inc., has a new exhibit at the Botetourt Museum of History & Culture to commemorate Native American History Month during November. One of the artifacts on display is this large piece of leather shaped like an arrowhead. It has fringe and beading along the top and was made by Danny Kyle about 45 years ago. There are various arrowheads on it that were found by his family in plowed fields and along streams near Caldwell Mountain. Native American artifacts from the Paleo-Indian Era, the Archaic Era and the Woodland Era can still be found in Botetourt. Several tribes hunted and lived in this area where the game was plentiful.
