Payton White, Maggie Brewster, Regan Childs, Lilly Falls and Grace Matre all won singles matches as James River defeated Bath County in tennis last week. River also won doubles matches with the teams of Steger and White and Childs and Falls for a 7-2 win.

The Knights also played at Glenvar last week and lost a close one, 5-4. White and Brewster won in singles with the teams of Steger and Brewster and Childs and Falls winning at doubles.

“It was a very close match and it could have went either direction,” said River coach Brian White. “It was 4-4 going into our last singles match.”

The girls are back in action with a Three Rivers District match at Floyd County on Thursday.
