The Lord Botetourt and James River track teams both competed in the Terrier Team Challenge meet at William Byrd High School in Vinton last Saturday. The meet included 20 schools.
Botetourt’s Distance Medley Relay team of Ethan Thorne, Daniel Estep, John Moughrabi and Eric Duncan broke the school record by over a minute with at time of 10:28.68. The team is currently ranked first in Virginia.
Caleb Miller won the 110 hurdles while teammate Triston Graves finished third. Miller also took third in the 300 hurdles while Moughrabi was third in the 400.
For the girls, Analise Buyalos was third in the 300 hurdles and Karliegh Brown took fifth in the pole vault.
“We had a lot of personal bests on both boys and girls side,” said LB coach Tra Wilson.
For James River, Denver Rinehart finished fourth in the 100 meters and seventh in the 200. Maddie Davison was fifth in the 800 and the 4×100 relay team of Rinehart, Davidson, Mirai Burton and Kendall Childs took sixth.
For the boys Jack Beheler won the discus and Ashton Orange also placed. Ryder Ward was third in both the long and triple jumps.
The Knights will host a meet in Springwood next Tuesday, April 21. All the Three Rivers District teams are invited. River will also participate in the Titan Challenge at Hidden Valley this Saturday.
Lord Botetourt is sending distance runners to Washington High on Friday and the team is scheduled to compete at Emory & Henry University on Saturday.
