A stout Floyd County team defeated James River in a girls’ tennis match in Floyd last week, 9-0, but the girls bounced back for a 6-3 win over Bath County Monday at Hollins University.
Payton White, Lilly Falls, Grace Matre and Maggie Brewster played all the way into tie breaking sets before winning their singles matches against Bath. Doubles teams of White and Brewster and Regan Childs and Falls sealed the victory for James River.
The Knights were scheduled to play Patrick County on Tuesday. On Thursday they host Carroll County at Hollins University.
