Both the Lord Botetourt and James River track teams will be competing in the 15th Annual Knights Track Classic at Cave Spring High School this Saturday. Events begin at 9 a.m. with 18 schools scheduled to attend.

Last Saturday LB had three athletes compete in Charlotte in the “Distance Carnival” while the rest of the team was at Emory & Henry. In Charlotte Preston Vaughn, Ethan Thorne and Eric Duncan all ran personal bests in the 3200 with Duncan setting a new school record in 8:56. It was his first time under nine minutes and the second best time ever for a Class 3 athlete. In the mile Thorne ran 4:20 to set a new LB school record.

At Emory & Henry the girls 4×200 relay team of Cora Clark, Janai Compton, Natalie Mullens and Elana Preston placed first overall. Analise Buyalos took first in the 300 hurdles and Caleb Miller won the 110 hurdles with a new school record time of 14.52. John Moughrabi won the 400 with a school record time of 50.85, qualifying for the state meet.

James River athletes competed in the Titan Track Classic at Hidden Valley High last Saturday. Denver Rinehart finished third in the girls’ 100 dash and fourth in the 200. Maddie Davidson was third in the 800 and the girls 4×100 relay team took third.

For the boys, Ryder Ward won the triple jump and Jack Beheler was second in the discus.
