The Lord Botetourt boys’ soccer team is back over the .500 mark after picking up a win and a tie last week. The Cavs are 4-3-1 after tying Magna Vista and defeating Northside.

Last Wednesday in Daleville the Cavs played Magna Vista to a 1-1 Mexican standoff. That was a moral victory after losing 3-0 in the previous meeting in Ridgeway.

Senior captain Isaac Alderman set the tone immediately, finding the back of the net within the opening minute and a half after capitalizing on a loose ball at the top of the scoring area. The early goal forced the Cavaliers into a long defensive battle, as the young squad worked tirelessly to contain Magna Vista’s dangerous and persistent attack. Despite the pressure, the Cavaliers held firm to secure the draw.

The week concluded on a high note with a commanding 4-1 victory over the Vikings at Northside on Friday. Trailing 1-0 at halftime, the Cavaliers made key formation adjustments after Northside exposed weaknesses in the first half setup.

“The changes paid off quickly, as the team emerged energized and dominant in the second half, controlling possession and dictating the pace of play,” said LB coach Tim Wright.

Alderman added to his strong week with another goal, while the underclassmen made a significant impact on the scoreboard. Freshman Cooper Pastrikos and sophomores Jonah Dunker and Jackson Taylor each found the net, highlighting the team’s depth and promising future.

The Cavaliers were scheduled to play at Franklin County on Tuesday. They’re at Salem tonight for a 7 p.m. non-district game.
