BCSO partners with Angels of Assisi to host clinic for pet owners

The Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office recently partnered with Angels of Assisi to host a successful Mobile Health Clinic for local pet owners at the pavilion beside Fincastle Baptist Church.

One hundred pets received care during the event, including vaccines, microchipping, and basic exams. Animal Control Officers also provided pet ID tags on-site.

“We are incredibly grateful to Angels of Assisi, our Animal Control Officers, volunteers, and everyone in the community who helped make this event a success,” said Sheriff Matt Ward. “It was wonderful to see so many take advantage of these services and help keep their pets healthy and safe.”

Senior Social this Friday at Orchard Hills Church

The Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office will host its next Senior Social this Friday, May 15, at 11:30 a.m. at Orchard Hills Church, 6032 Cloverdale Road, Roanoke. The event is part of the ongoing Senior Focus Outreach Program, which aims to connect seniors with local resources and promote public safety through community engagement.

The featured guest speaker will be Matt Ferguson with The Carpenter’s Helpers, a ministry that partners with the Botetourt Resource Center to assist low-income seniors and disabled residents in Botetourt County with home repairs and improvements. He will share information about the ministry, volunteer opportunities, and resources available to seniors in the community.

A variety of public and private service providers will also be on site to offer information and answer questions on topics such as daily well-being checks, general health resources, financial wellness, and navigating future care needs. Government representatives and community organizations will be available to assist with inquiries related to senior support programs and services.

The event, including all services and a meal, will be provided free of charge to members of the senior community in Botetourt County.

For more information, contact Community Outreach Coordinator Andrea Mundy at 540-928-2233.

Residents are encouraged to share the event with senior friends, neighbors, or family members in Botetourt.
