Lord Botetourt and James River track teams will be competing in region meets this week. Christiansburg High will host the Region 3D meet on Thursday, including LB, while James River will be at the Region 2C meet on Friday at Radford High School.
The Class 2 Three Rivers District did not hold a district meet this year but the Class 3 Blue Ridge District held a meet at Staunton River High last Wednesday, May 20. Franklin County High swept both the boys and girls team titles while the Lord Botetourt boys tied William Byrd for second and the girls were sixth.
The LB boys had three district champions. Eric Duncan won the 1600 meters in 4:32.10, Caleb Miller won the 110 hurdles in 14.74 and Joel Butler cleared nine feet to win the pole vault. Aman Boston was third in the 110 hurdles, Preston Vaughn was fourth in the 1600 and the LB 4×800 relay team took a second.
For the girls, Karleigh Brown cleared nine feet to win the pole vault while teammates Lois Frederickson and Natalie Mullins both cleared seven feet to tie for sixth place. Morgan Wilmer was fourth in the 100 dash and Ratie Jensen took sixth in the 100-meter hurdles.
