Lord Botetourt had teams competing in both the Region 3D boys’ and girls’ tennis tournaments as the paper went to press this week. Both were in team competition Tuesday.
The boys defeated Bassett on Tuesday. The Cavaliers will advance to a Saturday match at Cave Spring, with the time still to be determined.
The LB girls’ tennis team was rained out of a Monday match at Hollins University against William Byrd. That match was rescheduled for Tuesday at the Sun Tennis Center on Starkey Road in Roanoke.
The girls are the second seed in the region. If the Cavaliers won Tuesday they’re scheduled to host the region semifinal next Monday, June 1, at Hollins University against the winner of a first round match between Bassett and Magna Vista.
Also, Region 3D singles and doubles are being held in Abingdon on Thursday and Friday of this week.
