
The VA250 Committee along with the Botetourt Preservation Partnership (BPP) is holding its fourth Spirit Trail event on Saturday, June 13, from 2-6 p.m. A Few Old Goats Brewing (AFOG) at 19318 Main Street, Buchanan is the location.
Three speakers during the afternoon will all discuss historical aspects of Botetourt County. Bethany Worley, executive director of the Blue Ridge Institute and Museum at Ferrum College, will speak on the history of canneries in Botetourt. Adam McBryde will present a video: “From Currents to Community: The James River’s Role in Buchanan’s Past, Present and Future.” Curtis Reed, co-owner of AFOG, will deliver a presentation on the history of the 1903 building that houses AFOG.
AFOG is family friendly. Ferguson Family Provisions food truck will be there from 4-9 p.m. with a very varied menu. The Dogmattics, a band out of Roanoke, will provide music from the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s, from blues to country from 6-9 p.m.
The public is encouraged to attend for some history, food and entertainment.
