Shelby Jean Duke, 86, of Blue Ridge, was welcomed into the arms of our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.

Born and raised in Dugspur, Va., Shelby was the oldest of seven children and a country girl at heart. Shelby loved to talk, loved flowers, receiving cards, going out to eat, being surrounded by her family and friends, and enjoyed watching Nascar, American Idol, and The Bachelor.

Shelby was preceded in death by the love of her life, Curtis; mother and father, Mildred and Mark Huff; brothers, Donnie and Wayne Huff; step-brother, Hoover Huff; step-sister, Christine Emkalns; and son-in-law, Chad Goad.

Shelby leaves behind her four children, Tony (Windy) Duke, Dwayne (Mary) Duke, Lisa (Jerry) Ayers, and Angie Goad; 11 grandchildren, Danielle (Victor) Resendez, Kayla (Justin) Humbert, Tori Duke (Jon Braunstein), Dakota Duke, Hunter (Kaitlyn) Duke, Hannah Duke (Tyler Brown), Arabella Heath, Stevie Ayers, Garrett (Kristin) Ayers, Tessa Goad, and Travis Goad; five great-grandchildren, David Perez, Jewell Resendez, Sophie Humbert, Scarlett Duke, and Jackson Ayers. Shelby was so loved and will be missed immensely by all. Family would like to extend sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff of 9 CST PCU and 10S Palliative at Roanoke Memorial Hospital for their unwavering love and care over the past two weeks.

Family will be having a private gathering to celebrate Shelby’s life; however,ss they welcome loving thoughts and prayers during this time.
