One of the region’s most anticipated summer traditions returns Thursday as the 72nd Annual Buchanan Community Carnival opens for 10 days of rides, food, music and family fun.
The carnival will run June 25 through July 4 and will be open nightly from 6 to 10:30 p.m. The event will be closed Sunday, June 28.
Rides will once again be provided by Cole Amusements, while attendees can enjoy carnival games, live music and a variety of food favorites, including Buchanan’s famous petros, burgers and fresh-cut french fries.
Live entertainment is scheduled throughout the event, with performances by Thunder Ridge on June 25, Blue Connection on June 26, Wild Honey on June 27, Fab Four on June 29, Midnite Blue on June 30, American Honey on July 1, The Frequency on July 2, and Cimmaron on both July 3 and July 4.
The annual carnival has become a hallmark of summer in Buchanan, drawing residents and visitors from throughout Botetourt County and beyond. For many families, the event serves as a longstanding tradition and an opportunity to gather with friends and neighbors while celebrating the community spirit that has defined the carnival for more than seven decades.
The festivities will conclude with fireworks displays at 10 p.m. on both July 3 and July 4, providing a patriotic finale to the Independence Day holiday weekend.
Ride wristbands will be available for purchase on-site throughout the event. Prices are $30 per person June 25-27, $20 per person June 29-30, and $30 per person July 1-4. On-site wristband sales will end one hour before each evening session concludes.
Organizers encourage residents to bring the whole family and enjoy one of Buchanan’s longest-running community traditions.
