The League for Animal Protection recently benefited from a successful fundraising event at Don Ho’s and is continuing its fundraising efforts with a quilt raffle.
The Sept. 9 fundraiser at Don Ho’s drew a steady stream of supporters, with takeout orders beginning at 3 p.m. and customers continuing to arrive into the evening.
Pat Shaver, director of the League for Animal Protection, said the event was a “rousing success” and thanked Don and Jo Jo Sutliff and the restaurant staff for their support. The league also has been invited back for another fundraising event next year.
The league also is holding a raffle for a quilt titled “Ribbon Box,” a 54-by-62-inch quilt made by master quilter Paula Thompson.
Thompson previously donated a quilt to the league, and this is the second quilt she has donated to help raise money for the no-kill shelter in Fincastle. The “Ribbon Box” quilt is stitched on both sides.
Raffle tickets are $5 each. Tickets can be purchased by sending a check to the League for Animal Protection, P.O. Box 561, Fincastle, VA 24090, or through Venmo at P-Shaver-2 or PayPal at LAPFincastle.
The drawing will be held Oct. 1.
