Buchanan Presbyterian schedules Lenten services
Buchanan Presbyterian Church will have Lenten services on Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 6:30 p.m. for Ash Wednesday and on Thursday, April 9 at 6:30 for Maundy Thursday. A soup and sandwich meal starts at 6:30. The community is invited to attend.
Ash Wednesday service in Buchanan
Buchanan’s Trinity United Methodist Church will host an Ash Wednesday service for the community. All are invited at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 26. The church is located on Main Street in Buchanan.
Andrew Chapel holding Ash Wednesday service
Andrew Chapel United Methodist Church will observe the first day of the Lenten season with an Ash Wednesday service on February 26 at 7 p.m. This service is open to the community and all are welcome. Andrew Chapel is located at 3936 Beaver Dam Road, just off Springwood Road in Springwood.
Fried chicken dinner to raise money for Alaska mission team
Mill Creek Baptist Church’s Alaska mission team is hosting a fried chicken dinner on Saturday, Feb. 29, from 4:30-6 p.m. Meal includes breast and wing or thigh and drum stick, buttered potatoes, green beans, slaw and roll for $8. Dessert will be available anfor additional charge. Dine in or carry out. Call church office 992-3474 for tickets. Tickets are required.
Men’s, Women’s Day at Lapsleys Run Baptist
Lapsleys Run Baptist Church will celebrate its annual Men’s and Women’s Day on Sunday, March 8, at 3 p.m. The guest speaker for this service will be the Rev. Patricia Smith, accompanied by the congregation from Spirit of Unity Baptist Church. Lunch will be served following morning service.

Galatia EPC community meal March 9
Join members of Galatia Evangelical Presbyterian Church at noon on Monday, March 9 for a community meal. Snow or ice will cancel. The church is located at 78 Gala Loop Road, Eagle Rock.
Amishlands trip to ‘Queen Esther’ March 24-26
Join the Joyful Journey Travel Club of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Daleville for this three days, two nights visit to the Pennsylvania Amishlands.

Cloverdale Church of the Brethren Thrift Shop
The Thrift Shop at Cloverdale Church of the Brethren is having a denim sale. All women’s, men’s and children’s jeans are on sale for 50 cents each, all sizes and colors. A special sale on shoes is also under way; all women’s shoes are 50 cents a pair, different styles and sizes. The shop is open each Saturday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
BAMA presenting community Lenten services
The Buchanan Area Ministerial Association (BAMA) has again scheduled a series of Lenten services.
Every Tuesday, beginning March 3 and continuing through April 7, the northern Botetourt community is invited to gather for worship, singing, preaching, and fellowship in the Buchanan area during the weeks that precede Easter. Light refreshments are served following the 7 p.m. worship. A free light lunch will be provided at the conclusion of the 12-noon worship.

Fincastle UMC Lenten services, lunch
Fincastle United Methodist Church will hold five weekly Wednesday Lenten services and lunch beginning on March 4in the Family Life Center, 137 S. Church Street, Fincastle. These short, 20-minute services begin at 12:05 p.m. and will be led by area pastors. A home-cooked lunch will follow each service. The service and meal are designed to last about one hour. Child care will be provided. Takeout meals will be available.

The lunch menus are subject to change. If Botetourt County Public Schools are closed because of inclement weather, the service will be canceled.
