Lord Botetourt senior Miette Veldman scores in last week’s girls’ basketball state semifinal win over Booker T. Washington High at the Salem Civic Center. The girls earned a spot in the state championship game with the victory, but the Virginia High School League cancelled the state games in Richmond due to the threat of coronavirus and the Cavaliers were declared state co-champions.
