Jean Aurich Bolton Stevens, 89, of Hollins, passed away Monday, October 17, 2022 at Friendship Health & Rehab.
Jean was born in Fincastle October 20, 1932 and lived in the Botetourt and Hollins area all of her life. She was the daughter of the late F.D. and Eugenia P. Peters Bolton.
Jean was a retired teacher at Burlington Elementary School in Roanoke County and had taught for 32 years, 30 years in second grade. She was an honor graduate of Roanoke College and also had a degree in nursing from Stuart Circle Hospital in Richmond. Jean was a member of Unity of Roanoke and a former member of Fincastle Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George D. Stevens, Jr.; brother and sister-in-law, F. David and Barbara J. Bolton. Jean is survived by her beloved son, George D. Stevens, III; her sister and brother-in-law Carolyn B. and David L. Lennon; several nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
A graveside service was 2:30 p.m. Sunday, October 23 in Godwin Cemetery, Fincastle with Ben Peyton officiating. The family received friends at Rader Funeral Home, Daleville from 1-2 p.m. Sunday.
