David E. Walker, 85, passed away in the comfort of his home on Monday, Oct 17, 2022. Born April 9, 1937 in Botetourt County, he was the son of the late William H. and Lottie F. Walker of Buchanan. David was retired from Big Island Paper Mill with 34 years of service. He loved collecting guns and coins, being out in nature, enjoying wildlife, but most of all he loved his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Wanda T. Walker; brothers, Grover (Sue) of Glasgow, Donald and Lloyd Walker of Buchanan; sister, Rebecca Chambers of Lebanon.

David is survived by his son, David Walker (Angie) of Buena Vista; daughter, Karen Walker (Kenny) of Natural Bridge; daughter, Carolyn Rhodes (David) of Waynesboro; sisters, Elizabeth Petty of Buchanan and Cheryl Frontiero (Larry) of North Carolina; sister-in-law, Gloria Walker of Buchanan; many nephews and nieces; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Internment at Rockbridge Memorial Gardens was held at 2 pm. Tuesday, October 25, Close friend Jeff Tolley provided comforting words to the family and friends.

The family would like to thank Rockbridge Area Hospice for their service and the care provided by his nurses.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Rockbridge Area Hospice, 315 Myers Street, Lexington, 24450. Arrangements were by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory, Lexington.
