Korth, Edward George

Edward George “Ed” Korth, 90, of Daleville, passed away Friday, December 16, 2022.

Ed was born in Jersey City, New Jersey April 1, 1932, to the late Theodore George and Frances (Kenyon) Korth. He proudly served 2 years in the US Army. Ed met his loving wife Ruth of 55 years in high school in Ramsey, N.J.

After being honorably discharged from the Army, Ed went on to be a sales manager at Motorola Communications.  Ed loved his 30-year career at Motorola and created lifelong friendships while traveling up and down the East Coast.  Ed also loved being by the water and all water sports leading him from New Jersey to Maryland during his career.

After retirement in 1998, Ed and Ruth built their dream home and moved to Virginia.  In his free time, Ed enjoyed woodworking and was a phenomenal craftsman.   Ed and Ruth also appreciated traveling the world and boating together.

Most importantly, Ed was a good family man, a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Elissa Christensen; brother, Theodore “Ted” Korth; brothers–in–law, Robert White and Donald Christensen, and sister–in-law, Betty Mengel.

Ed is survived by his wife, Ruth (White) Korth, and children, Edward & Susan Korth, Mark Ingino & Karen, Doreen & Rick Sewell, and Cheryl & Steve Ceresna; grandchildren, Jason & Stefanie Birch and Jessica & Shawn Weeden; great-grandchildren, Corinne & Kaden, Cameron & Kaleb, Celia, Tyler, Travis, Charli, and great-great-grandchild, Saylor; brother, Jack Korth; brother-in-law, Bruce Mengle, and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Ed’s life will start by receiving friends and family at 4 p.m., with the service to follow at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2022.  All services will be held at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road, Daleville, with Pastor Ben Peyton officiating.
