Dorothy Loyd “Dottie” Hale, 81, of Cloverdale passed away Sunday, December 11, 2022 following a long illness.
Dottie was born in Cloverdale March 16, 1941 and was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Lucille M. Dooley Loyd. Dottie was a buyer for Peebles Department Store in Manassas and later with Leggett/Belk Department Store in Honaker. In 1986, she returned to Cloverdale and had lived there since. Dottie was a member of Cloverdale Church of the Brethren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles E. “Bud” Loyd, Jr. Dottie is survived by her daughter, Yvette Hale (Walter Martinez) of Deland, Fla.; and her grandchildren, Cody Wayne (Kandis) Deskins and Blake Austin Deskins.
A celebration of Dottie’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 21 at Rader Funeral Home, 630 Roanoke Road, Daleville. Burial will be at Daleville Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service Wednesday.
