Hollins University first year student Rachel Nicole Edwards received the “Melanie Hook Rice Award in the Novel” on May 2, 2023 for her writing skills and an excerpt from her work in progress, her second novel. The prequel to her first adult fiction book, “Giollachríst, Lighting the Candle,” was published at age 16.
