Annual fish fry October 7 at Mill Creek

Mill Creek will be hosting its annual fall fish fry on Saturday, October 7, from 4:30-6:30 p.m., eat in or take out. Menu will be two pieces of white fish, slaw, parsley buttered potatoes and hush puppies. If you dine in a beverage of tea, lemonade, water or coffee is included.
Homemade desserts from the bakers at Mill Creek will be available for purchase.

You may get advance tickets from Sue Sweet at 540-797-2304, Nancy Epperly at 540-254-2616 or Tommy Moore at 540-529-5290. Tickets are $12 each.

 

Yard sale at Ebenezer UMC

Ebenezer United Methodist Church will have a yard sale October 7 from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. The sale will also include sausage gravy biscuits, hot dogs and baked goods. Ebenezer is located at 35 Nace Road, Troutville, across from Virginian Markette.

 

Blessing of the Animals

Whether your furry companion is a dog, cat, horse, hamster, or even a favorite stuffed animal, please join the Church of the Transfiguration for a Blessing of the Animals on Saturday, October 7 celebrating the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi.  Gathering at the picnic shelter for the blessing, which will begin at 10 a.m.  Animals should be under their owners’ control to ensure everyone goes home happy.  Feel free to bring a picture of your pet.  Donations for Saint Francis Service Dogs will be collected.

 

Christmas sale at Cloverdale Thrift Shop

Cloverdale Church of the Brethren Thrift Store is having a Christmas sale through October wit items gifts, jewelry, Christmas sweaters and lots of decorations. Fall and winter clothes are available for the entire family.  The shop open every Saturday from 9 to 12; donations are welcomed.

 

Hayride, cookout at Galatia Presbyterian

Galatia Evangelical Presbyterian Church invites you to the annual hayride and hot dog roast on October 14 at 4 p.m. at the Gala Riverfront Campground.  In case of rain, it will be at the Gala Pavilion across from the church at 78 Gala Loop Road, Eagle Rock.

Please bring a dish or dessert to share, hot dogs and buns are furnished.  Also, bring a folding chair for yourself.  There will also be a bluegrass band.

 

Indoor yard sale upcoming at Mill Creek Baptist

The Dominican Republic Mission Team at Mill Creek Baptist Church will be hosting an indoor yard sale Friday, October 13, 5-8 p.m., and Saturday, October 14, 8 a.m.-1 p.m., in the fellowship hall at the church. Dinner will be available on Friday to eat in or take out – Petros, hamburgers, hot dogs, pork BBQ, strawberry shortcake, and homemade desserts. Breakfast and lunch will be available on Saturday.

Proceeds will benefit the team’s work at a preschool, church and community in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic where the group has been involved since 2012.

 

First Baptist Church of Fincastle to celebrate 192nd anniversary

First Baptist Church of Fincastle, where the Rev. Montie E. Brown Sr. is pastor, will celebrate its192nd anniversary on Sunday, October 15, during the 11 a.m. service. Minister Marilyn Brown, Associate at Hill Street Baptist Church Roanoke, will be the guest speaker. Refreshments will be served directly after the service in the fellowship hall. Everyone is invited to attend.
