The Addy Grace Foundation has teamed up with Jeter Farm for a Pig Pickin’ and Barbecue Contest Saturday, July 22 at the farm on US 460 at Bonsack.
Barbecue contestants are welcome to join in the contest, with a Professional Division and a Backyard Division. To enter, contact Tater Benson at 353-7173 or Addy Grace Foundation at 312-0586; or register at addygracefoundation.com.
The Pig Pickin’ and Barbecue Contest is serving as a fundraiser for the foundation that is raising money for the all-abilities playground that is planned next to the proposed Botetourt YMCA at Daleville Town Center. All proceeds will benefit the foundation.
Gates for the event open at 11 a.m. and adult tickets are $6, and $4 for kids 6-12. Children 6 and under are admitted free.
Food and drinks will be available; there will be inflatables, games and live music.
The fee for entering the Professional Division for the barbecue contest is $150 and that includes two free Boston butts to cook. There’s a $25 entry fee for the Backyard Division, and those contestants bring their own meat to cook.
Judging for the contest is at 4:30 p.m., with plaques awarded to first and second places.
