When Acoustic Endeavors takes the stage at Buchanan Theater Saturday night, the popular bluegrass group will be celebrating its 15th anniversary as part of the Buchanan Arts Series.
The group is celebrating that milestone with a new song, too, one dedicated to the small town that has remade itself in those 15 years. It is appropriately titled “Buchanan By The James” and was written by lead vocalist and mandolin player Warren Amberson.
Copies of the song will be available at the performance.
The group has released several CDs, including “Coming of Age,” “On A Farm” and “Sneak Preview.”
Acoustic Endeavors includes Amberson, Kelly Green on guitar, John Lawless on banjo, Greg Honeycutt on bass, and Dewey Peters on guitar.
The group has kicked off the annual Buchanan Art Series since it started playing at the theater when it reopened in 1996.
The Buchanan Art Series is sponsored by the Town of Buchanan, the Buchanan Special Events Committee and supported by the Bank of Botetourt’s Art By the James Series. For more information, contact the Buchanan Downtown Revitalization Program at 254-1212 or check the events page of the website at www.townofbuchanan.com.
The show is at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are $10 and may be purchased in advance at the Town Hall and at the door.
