The Region C basketball tournament games have been delayed because of the continued bad weather in Southwest Virginia.

James River’s and Radford’s boys basketball teams were scheduled to play Friday night in separate semi-final games, with the championship game set for Saturday—all at Northwood High School in Saltville.

Radford’s girls also were scheduled to play tonight in the girls’ regional semi-final. The girls’ championship also was set for Saturday at Northwood.

Instead, the boys’ semi-finals have been postponed until Saturday, Feb. 27 when Radford will play George Wythe at 6 p.m. and James River will play at 8 p.m.. The Knights meet the winner of the Grayson-Chilhowie quarterfinal game that has been postponed because of snow.

The championship games for girls and boys have been moved to Monday, March 1 at 6 and 8 p.m. at Northwood.

Of course, the National Weather Service says Saltville is under a blizzard and winter storm warning today through Saturday—although accumulations may be only 1-6 inches.

James River and Radford boys reached the semi-finals by virtue of their wins Wednesday night. River beat Floyd County 66-43 in Springwood and Radford downed Auburn 86-63. Radford’s girls beat Fort Chiswell 61-52 Tuesday night in the girls’ quarterfinals.
