American Legion Post 240 held a member/family picnic on Saturday, May 21 at the VFW Hall. Over 55 members and family attended.

During the festivities, Terry Tucker, the local Blue Star Administrator, awarded a Blue Star Banner to four families. The Blue Star Banner signifies that a family has a son or daughter serving in the military and usually is displayed in the front window of the parents’ home.

The recipients of this award were: Wendy and Mike Coleman of Fincastle, whose son Dylan is a Staff Sergeant in the Air Force; Angela Miller of Fincastle, whose son Austin Miller is a Private First Class in the Marines; Teresa Archer of Troutville, whose son Aiden Kesler is a Private First Class in the Marines; and Scott and Kathy Finley, whose daughter Heather is a Sergeant in the Army Reserve and son Sam, who is a Second Lieutenant in the National Guard.

Any parent who has a child serving in the military and would like to receive a Blue Star Banner should contact Terry Tucker at: Fincastletuckers@gmail.com.
