American Legion Post 240, working with the Guidance Department at Lord Botetourt High School, announces the two participants who will be attending Boys State at Radford University this summer. The tuition for this program is paid by Post 240.
The two juniors are Crews Jones, son of Travis and Courtney Jones of Daleville, and Ethan Webster, son of David and Mitzi Webster of Blue Ridge.
Boys State, which was founded in 1935, is among the most respected and selective educational programs of government instruction for US high school students. The participants become part of the operation of local, county and state government. They learn the rights, privileges and responsibilities of US citizens. The training is objective and centers on the structure of city, county and state governments. Operated by students elected to various offices, Boys State activities include legislative sessions, court proceedings, law-enforcements presentations, assemblies, bands, choruses and recreational programs. This one-week event will conducted on the campus of Radford University.
