Arrest Made in Botetourt robbery – Botetourt Sheriff Sprinkle Reports Quick Arrests, Property Recovered In Connection With Break-Ins at Lord Botetourt High School.

Botetourt County Sheriff Ronnie N. Sprinkle announced today that three Botetourt County teen-age adult males have been arrested and charged in connection with break-ins involving six structures at Lord Botetourt High School the night of October 8-9.

Property with a value estimated at $12,550 was stolen in the intrusions, and investigating officers were able to recover all of that with the exception of about $600 worth of electronics, drinks and candy, the sheriff said. Damage to the structures was estimated at $4,100, Sprinkle said. He said that the stolen property included candy, drinks, computers, computer monitors, laptop computers, a flat-screen television set, a DVD player, and a digital video camera.

The sheriff identified the trio as Cameron Wayne Collins, 18, and Derrike Ethan Walker, 19, both of Troutville, and Matthew Joshua Colombini, 18, of Daleville. At this time, each is charged with one count of larceny and one count of breaking and entering.

Sheriff Sprinkle said that an investigation of a suspected shoplifting in the evening of October 8 led to the initial questioning of the three. A vehicle license number provided by a witness was traced to Colombini, and a review of Kroger security video tapes identified all three, he said, adding that additional charges are being planned in connection with the Kroger incident.

The break-ins occurred in the boys’ football field house and press box, boys’ baseball concession stand and press box, and the girls’ softball concession stand and press box. Entry in all instances was by brute force, using a hatchet, Sprinkle said.

The three were arraigned today in closed-circuit video. Walker is being held in the Botetourt County Jail pending a preliminary hearing December 7. Colombini and Collins have been released on bond.
