Park after Dark: Perseid Meteor Shower

On August 12, Natural Bridge State Park will host a public astronomy program to enjoy the Perseid Meteor Shower from 8:30 to 10 p.m. The Perseids, named because it originates from the direction of the constellation Perseus, is one of the most reliably spectacular meteor showers every year. This year, join rangers and guest astronomers from the Roanoke Valley Astronomical Society to enjoy and learn about this astronomical event. Attendees will enjoy a short wagon ride to Jefferson Point where the speakers will be on hand to teach guests and answer questions about the shower. Binoculars for enhanced viewing will be provided by the park and guests are encouraged to bring their own viewing optics. Program will conclude with wagon ride back down to the parking area.

Cost is $5 per person or $8 per family. Payment can be made in advance at the Visitor Center.  Please call the park at (540) 291-1330 for more information. Pre-registration is encouraged.

Full Moon Yoga

August 15 will be the last of the Full Moon Yoga sessions this year at Natural Bridge State Park, guided by Center of Gravity Yoga Studio. From 8 to 9:30 p.m., enjoy a relaxing night beginning with a wagon ride along one of the best sunset vistas the valley can offer and ending with a full-moon rise. Take this opportunity to experience Natural Bridge State Park in a whole new way.

Cost is $10 per person. Participants must be 12 and up. Please pre-register by calling (540) 291-1330.
