Solomon’s Mission to host back-to-school giveaway July 25
Solomon’s Mission will host its annual Back-to-School event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 25. Children must be present to receive school supplies.
The organization is accepting donations of school supplies through July 23. Current needs include three-prong folders, glue sticks and one-subject notebooks.
Solomon’s Mission also announced it will suspend donations from July 20 through Aug. 17 while its store undergoes a remodel. The store may be closed for several days during that time. Updates will be posted on the organization’s Facebook page.
Back-to-school event at Troutville Park
Troutville Baptist Church will host a free back-to-school event for local children from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, at Troutville Park.
The event, billed as “Back to School Fun Time,” will feature games, prizes and free refreshments for families in attendance.
According to the event flyer, every child who attends will receive a free bag of school supplies while supplies last. The bags are branded with the theme “Walking with Jesus” and include the Bible verse from Matthew 28:20, “I am with you always.”
The church is inviting area families to attend as students prepare for the start of the new school year. The event is free and open to the community.
