BCPS Employees of the Month announced for March

Read Mountain Middle School English Learning teacher Susie Bruce and Blue Ridge District School Board representative Matt East

Each month at the regular meeting of the Botetourt County Public Schools (BCPS) School Board, the board recognizes the services of employees for their exceptional performance.

At the April meeting, the board recognized Susie Bruce, English Learning Teacher at Read Mountain Middle School, and Lori Draper, School Nutrition worker at Cloverdale Elementary School. Superintendent Dr. Jonathan Russ read comments about each staff member that came with their respective recommendations.

“Susie (Bruce) is an exceptional EL teacher,” Russ shared. “She goes above and beyond to help core teachers with lessons as well as language learners themselves. Ms. Bruce is

always in communication with gen ed teachers about students and is always ready and willing to assist in any way possible. She is proactive where he students are concerned and demonstrates a genuine interest in their success.”

Draper then received her certificate with Russ sharing that “Lori (Draper) has done a great job preparing lunch for students and staff at Troutville Elementary. She is so sweet to everyone she meets. She might great you with a ‘sweet pea’ or ‘darling,’ but always with a smile.”
