“You do the math”

That’s all, folks!

She was predeceased by her parents, John J. “Jack” and Pat Moore Allen; her husband, Lt. Col. George E. Black, Jr., USAF Ret.; her beloved boxer Sadie who she dearly loved. She enjoyed the unconditional love of three men in her life – her father, her husband George, and her son David. What more could anyone ask. It was a wild ride with George, on motorcycles, the best 20 years of her life. Of the stories she could tell!

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her daughter, Prof. Lisa Cassady Newmark, and sister-in-law, Mary.

She is survived by her son, David Allen; grandchildren, John David Cassady and wife Berkley, Miranda Newmark and Darcy Newmark; great-grandson, Buckston; also by all the members of the Black families, especially Cecil, who was always concerned and caring; George and her son, Ronnie who adored his dad; and last but not least her pet dogs, Maverick and Sweet Pea.

She would also like to recognize all her friends over the many years – from high school, N&W and NS for 32 years; Fincastle friends and neighbors, you can take the girl out of Fincastle but not Fincastle our of the girl; and The Retreads Motorcycle Club (not gang, they were all to old to fight) were a very large part of the enjoyment of her life. No Hell’s Angels or Pagans were among them, unfortunately many of the club are no longer with us.

The family received friends at Rader Funeral Home in Daleville on Thursday, May 1, 2025 from 6 until 7 p.m. A private graveside service was held in Godwin Cemetery in Fincastle.
