
The Botetourt Cavaliers 8U football team won the Sandlot Super Bowl championship game last Saturday at Salem Stadium. The Cavaliers defeated Franklin County, 13-6.
Franklin County got on the board first but missed the extra point. Botetourt scored just before the half when Chase Ferguson hit Landry Dix in the end zone for a touchdown pass. Ferguson then ran the extra point for a 7-6 Botetourt halftime lead.
The Cavalier defense stiffened in the second half, keeping Franklin County off the board. Botetourt then added an insurance score on a four-yard run by Ferguson for the 13-6 final.
In other Super Bowl action, Cave Spring beat Salem in the 10U final, 16-6, and two Cave Spring teams played in the 12U final, which was decided in overtime.
