Botetourt County officials are advising residents to plan ahead for a series of temporary office closures in March as the county transitions to a new tax software system.

According to information shared recently on the county’s social media channels, the Commissioner of Revenue and Treasurer’s Offices will close on multiple dates to allow for staff training and system migration. During these periods, in-person transactions and payments will not be available.

The Commissioner of Revenue’s Office will be closed March 4-6 for training and again on March 13 for software conversion. No in-person transactions will be conducted on those dates.

The Treasurer’s Office will be closed March 9-12 for training and March 13 for the system conversion. County officials noted that no in-person payments will be accepted during that week.

Residents who pay taxes online or by phone should be aware that online and phone tax payment services will be available only until 5 p.m. on March 11. Those services are scheduled to resume March 16, with updated links and phone numbers posted on the county’s website.

In addition, building permit payments will be online-only March 9-13, with no in-person permit payments accepted during that time.

County officials said the temporary disruptions are necessary to improve long-term service efficiency and accuracy.

“We appreciate the public’s patience as we work to enhance our systems and better serve Botetourt County,” the county said in its announcement.

Residents with upcoming tax or permit needs are encouraged to complete transactions early or monitor the county website for updates as services come back online.
