This metal candelabrum was handmade in Germany and sent to New York City in the late 19th Century. In the 1930s it was brought to Botetourt County and used in the home of Madeleine Bunn. It could easily be carried from room to room. Mrs. Bunn donated it to the Botetourt History Museum and it is displayed downstairs in the parlor. During this “Season of Light” it is interesting to reflect on how much life has changed throughout history. In 1925 half of the homes in the United States did not have electric power. Candles and oil lamps provided the only source of illumination.
